Best 28th Birthday Ever :)

Why was this birthday the best you ask? You probably already know haha. My bubba was there. Last year he was chillin in my belly and this year he was a big part of the fun.

Cousin Jeff and April bought our little bubba a glow in the dark skeleton costume so we decided that we were going to be a family of skeletons for my birthday.

We had so much fun. We stayed the night with my parent's Saturday and bubba took 6-7 steps! He's getting so close to walking :). It's Awesome :) I'm so proud of my cutie patootie :)

We had so much fun with the whole family. We are so lucky that our family loves to get together and have a Halloween party every year. It's so much fun. It makes me feel like a kid again. This year I felt like a little kid with a beautiful sweet baby.

I can't believe bubba will be 1 in just three months. This time has flown by fast.

9 Months In and Out

As my sweet friend Natalie pointed out my bubba has been on this earth for as long as I carried him in my belly. Carrying him in my belly felt like an eternity because I was so anxious to see this beautiful baby and now it feels like I've never known a time without him. Life had not started until this little firecracker came into it. Ok, most people take belly shots when they are pregnant. We didn't do that but we did decide to take this one at Christmas LOL. Yes....it's goofy...do you know who I'm married to?

 

My 9 month old firecracker for sure. Every month Hudson learns more and more and it's so exciting to see the wheels turn in his head. His face of discovery is amazing to me. His face is always changing. He sometimes looks just like his daddy but then sometimes looks the way his mommy did when I was a baby. It is so much fun to see the many faces of Hudson.

Bubba says, "dada, momma, nana and bubba." I think he knows what mama means (of course I want to think that haha). I just love to hear him say it :).

We started some yummy foods. Pancakes, meatballs, chicken, crackers and a few other. He doesn't like pureed meats anymore so meatballs are awesome! This doesn't surprise me but he still loves the pureed fruit. They are sweet! He's also definitely his father's son. We took him to Kirby Lane for the pancake of the day (pumpkin mmmm) and Karl gave him a taste of his ranch dressing from his salad.  He no longer wanted the pancake! He wanted to keep eating the ranch dressing. We also started fresh blackberries and blueberries. I made him blueberry pancakes for his 9 month birthday and this is how it turned out (haha).

Bubba is also taking 3 steps! He falls afterwards or decides that crawling is a much more efficient mode of transportation. He's so fast. He also likes us to hold his hands so he can walk / almost run around the living room. I think he's going to run as soon as he gets his balance figured out (I'm scared hahaha). I can barely keep up now haha.

He has 5 teeth! Almost time for steak! I wonder if that's a Texas thing. Everyone says that when they see his teeth. So funny. He also likes to be chased and if you corner him he laughs because he doesn't know what to do. It's so much fun. I love it!

At his 9 month checkup the doctor asked if he liked to look at books. We said he likes to eat them because...he does. The corners are missing on one of his little books. That same day we came home and he actually sat still (very odd for this boy) and read the book with Paw Paw. He also let me read it to him 4 times this morning. I think it's time for those books with the animals in them that you can touch. Fun!

 

Bubba has a little separation anxiety...ok a lot haha. If momma is in the room then he's got to see me and if someone is holding him he wants to come to me. He's my sidekick. He's also crazy about his dada. Always crawling all over him. It's all smiles with dada. Dada is the life of our little party.

Happy October Santo Wildcats

Last Thursday Shawn'Na, bubba and I took a 3 1/2 hour trip to Santo, Texas to see my sweet KK and Marky. Bubba slept like a champ on the way their. We left at 7 PM so he'd sleep (best way to travel in my opinion).

He woke up when we got there with too much excitement and went back to bed at midnight! KK and Marky had to go to school on Friday so we hung out in the back yard by the lake. It was a beautiful morning.

At 3 PM we went to the Santo School pep rally. It was geared towards Breast Cancer Awareness so we wore our pink for support. They had an awesome show where they turned the lights off and everyone had glow in the dark bracelets or necklaces and the cheerleaders did a routine with strobe lights and flashing pompoms. I thought Hudson would be scared but he loved it! He also LOVED the gym after it was over (or I did lol). I was able to safely put him down and let him go wild.

That night we went to the Santo Highschool football game and saw Marky do his drum major business. He was awesome of course. The band played Party Rock and I still can't get it out of my head haha. Hudson was in love with the cutest ever little Cheyenne. Only in Santo would their be a cow right next to the football field haha jk!

The next day we went to Weatherford with KK and Shawn'Na and spotted a pumpkin patch. I've wanted to take pictures of my cutie in the pumpkins and so we did. He was adorable (of course) and wanted to eat the straw and a baby pumpkin.

We had a wonderful weekend!

A Few Firsts: The Coast and Hitting the Gym

I have a few firsts that I just can't wait to add to Hudson's 9 month blog :)

 9/27/2012 we drove down to Port O'Connor at night so that we could let bubba sleep on the way down. We drove down in two separate cars so that bubba was always left with a car. His pops watched him while mommy, dada and paw paw fished (thanks pops!). Bubba was not a great sleeper because we used the pack in play and it's probably just not quiet his comfy bed.

The first morning bubba was reaching for the coolers to play drums waking everyone up of course haha. Of course he was smiling as usual :). I LOVE my bubba!! He truly has the best smile in the world!

 

I got to kiss my bubba before we went off to fish. Fishing used to be my one true love (besides Karl) and I have to say that I did have a great time fishing but that I missed my bubba a lot. I'll probably wait to go again until he can come with me. I've said from day one that Hudson is my fishing buddy! Bubba spent all day back at the house with pops while we fished. They took pictures and played. From what I heard and saw he had a great time with his pops. We also took bubba down to the boat launch and let him look at the big things of bait fish. He was very curious and I think I saw a twinkle in his eye hehe. JK!

 

Hitting the Gym with Noah

 

Friday, October 5th Hudson and I met up with Noah and Natalie (and her sweet mom) and hit The Little Gym.  This gym is so cute! For us (age group) I felt like this gym was geared toward developmental milestones and helping our little ones take the next step. Hudson absolutely loved it! The "baby birds" were to stay next to their moms at the begining of the class and Hudson was interested in a cute 18 month old girl LOL! He was ready to explore the gym as soon as we hit the mat.

 

Noah and Hudson of course reunited like old friends and explored together. We are so lucky to have made such great friends. Just love seeing our boys together.

 

 

 

Hudson held onto the bar (sorry...I don't know excatly what it's called lol) by himself! I was amazed. Of course anything he does is amazing to me. He crawled around, fell a few times, climbed up stairs, bounced, even walked a little. I highly recommend the Little Gym for anyone looking to get their little one's motor skills going and more! I can't wait to go again! At the end of it all I'm not sure who was sweating more, me or Hudson. The best part was the smile on my bubba's face as he made discoveries. I just love to see him take off. This little boy is not shy and I'm so lucky to be a part of the Hudson Journey.

 

After a great workout we did what anyone who works out hard feels intitled to do and that's eat some delicious not so good for you food. The boys split a pancake and Hudson loved it! It was his first and I think we created a monster.

8 Month Alligator Roller

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, boy this just gets more and more fun. Our little munchkin is 8 months and it’s been a whirlwind of craziness and joy. I’ve recently discovered that if I stimulate my booger enough he will have a wonderful night of sleep…(and so will I haha). We’ve been going to the park to swim (before it got cooler) and also play on the slide. Dada had to work a lot these past couple of months for the extension tax deadline so it was me and booger against the world. We missed dada though. Glad to have him back for awhile.

Bubba loves the swing and loves to climb up the slides. Not so fond of going down the slides but he loves to climb up them. It makes him so happy and makes my heart want to explode when I see how happy he is. Best smiles ever!

My “dada” philosophy: so apparently all babies say dada first. However, I’m not sure when they are supposed to. I’ve been saying dada so much to Hudson over the last few months that I sound like a broken record. On his 8 month birthday he was in his high chair while I was washing bottles and I thought I heard him repeat if after me but wasn’t sure. A few hours later I took him into our bathroom to crawl around and sure enough he repeated after me when I said dada. It was awesome. I’d like to think it was my persistent hard work but I’m sure it was just time for him to say “dadadadada.” For now, I’ll believe I had something to do with it :). Now if I can just teach him to say momma :). On another note, I don’t think he knows what dada is but he’s been a mimicker from 2 months old so…let’s just say I taught him something :).

Some exciting things this month:

1. Bubba not only has his two front bottom teeth but now has the two top front teeth and they are ADORABLE! I love baby teeth. They make the cutest smiles in the world!

2. Bubba is attached to momma big time. Bubba used to play by himself away from me but now has to have a hand on me or be sitting in my lap or right next to me. I always have to be within sight. One thing I learned from baby center is that if I tell him where I’m going and maybe even point he doesn’t cry and it works! Well…most times. Or he just follows me … which still works :).

3.  We bought him a walker! He had the backwards walk down as soon as we put him in it. It took some enticing to get him to walk forward but after a day of putting something he wanted in front of him he now has the walking forward down. He’s also at the point where he will stand on his own for about 10 seconds so I think walking on his own is coming soon. He is getting better at walking along furniture too. He’s pretty fearless which is just awesome!

4. Our hungry hungry hippo wants to eat whatever we are eating. He gets mad if you don’t offer a bite. So you either have to share or just eat it before he sees what you are eating…or that’s just what I do. However, he also loves to share his food too. He will be eating a mum mum and if you say “Om om” and lean forward he will put the cookie in your mouth. Such a sweet bubba :).

5. What’s he eating these days? Well, I will tell you that he absolutely hates baby lasagna. The look on his face was priceless. He does love pureed beef and vegetables. Doesn’t surprise me he’s a meat eater. He also loves baby mac-n-cheese as well as the real deal. Who doesn’t love mac-n-cheese? Believe it or not…he doesn’t like Oreos! I soaked in Oreo in milk and then gave him a bite and he made a sour face. What!?!?! Doesn’t take after his momma in that sense :).

6. How’s he sleeping? Like a champ! With lots of activity before bed time and before naps he sleeps 9-10 hours at night and then takes 1 hour naps after each feeding during the day (about 3). This little man wares himself out!

7. Bubba doesn’t lay down in the tub anymore. I need to do some research on how to bathe him now lol. Might just have to get in with him. He wants to stand in the bathtub. Scares me! It’s slippery. I’ll have to figure this one out. LOL…the dilemmas of a new mom.

8. Took bubba to get allergy testing because I thought a few bites of my peanut butter sandwich gave him a rash (yes…I said peanut butter..more on that in a few). Found out that bubba is not allergic to peanuts, wheat or dairy. A few weeks ago I gave him a bite of my peanut butter sandwich because I read somewhere that I could give him peanut butter now. Well…he had a rash and so I called the on-call nurse that night and she told me I could give him Bennadryl. Took him to the dr the next day so they could check it out and the nurses acted like a committed a crime. Then I told the dr that I didn’t know I wasn’t supposed to give it to him and she said I could give it to him at 6 months. I’m getting mixed signals here lol. Anyhow, apparently the drs I talked to said that they are starting to wonder if so many kids have allergies now because they were told to not feed them certain things until they are 1 or 2. So, now, the idea is that if you give it to them and their body can handle it you should give it to them as much as possible. So…we’ll see how it goes.

9. Last but not least, This blog is titled alligator roller because this crazy ball of energy rolls fast than an alligator when you try to change his diaper. Hint to new parents. Don't buy any new furniture or replace any carpet you have before you have a baby. Wait until they are 18. Haha!

It's a goat....it's a rabbit...no...it's Hudson!

We have decided that it might be time to invest in a rabbit water bottle to install on the inside of Hudson's crib. Hahaha!

This little wild boy reminds us of a baby goat the way he likes to drink his bottles. Our little goof ball!
