Hudson Tells A Story

I have no doubt in my mind that when this boy gets a full vocabulary he's going to talk a million miles an hour. He's talking so much now and as always I'm amazed. Bubba tells stories too with words I don't know but he gets to swinging those arms, pointing those fingers and telling me the most amazing story.

We get up in the morning and Hudson tells me he wants "milk". So we go to the kitchen and get it. And that's how every day starts.

Get numbers in front of his face and he starts pointing at them repeating the same tone as if he's counting the way mommy does.

Take him outside and he tells me where the "moon" is. Planes "main" fly above our heads. We can't go to the "road" cause mommy said "no". Because "cars" go by. We wave and say "bye bye". And as each walking neighbor passes we say "hey, hi, or hello". We race down the driveway and he tells me when he's "ready". "Wizards" (lizards), "bugs", "birds" and "trees" are our outdoor buddies. Thanks to our neighbors bubba loves to ride his "bike".

Take him to the pool and he wants his "nemo," "turtle," "ball," and wants to hang like a "monkey" from the rail in the pool.

Funny to admit that he knows how to say these but we have: pizza (what sounds like patay), Cheetos, popcorn, cheese, beans, blueberries, bananas, nanny (candy) and he always wants his "water."

Take him to the "water" and he tells you the "turtles" go "home."

He always loves to bring momma his first 100 numbers book and point out/say: boat, tractor, banana, duck, flower, toes, ball, shoe, apple, choo choo, fish, hat, etc.

Momma goes to the "potty" and Hudson follows. Mama change my diaper cause there's "poopoo" in there. Mama kiss my "booboo."

A few phrases: "I don't want to" go home from the park and "come on pawpaw" as we load into the car. Always thirsty from exerting himself and tells me "I want water."

One of my favorites at bedtime. After "bath" we brush teeth and hug and kiss dada. Hugging each side of "dada's" neck saying "other" for each side. Crawls into "mommy's" lap to read a "book". Give dada one last round of loving. They do fin, noggin, "dude" like on nemo. Then says "bye bye daddy." We read and say byebye to the books and then bubba goes "night night" with mommy.

My favorite one of all. "Mommy" all the time. Looooooove. I say bubba loves? "Mommy!" And then I say mommy loves "bubba". He finishes my sentence and completes my life. Awesome.

I'm most definitely leaving some out but boy is this fun. So very proud to be in the audience of Hudson's story telling time.

Last night we went to the Liz Carpenter Fountain again to see the lights in the fountain at night. I'm in love with this area. My new favorite spot with Hudson :).

Best Weekend Ever with my Best Friend

Hudson and I had a busy weekend. Whew. Dada went fishing so we went to see Planes on Friday with Cousin Noah, Nanny and Uncle James. This movie (or the first half of it) was cute but due to the slow parts Hudson lost interest. Later we went to the pool. Swam for 10 minutes and got kicked out because some kid pooped in the pool. It was a bummer but good reason. Especially since my angel likes to drink pool water. So we went to HEB to stock up on cinnamon rolls for garage sale shopping. We ate one in the back of the truck together and made a huge sticky mess but that's what wipes are for haha.

Saturday bubba slept in until 7:30 and we waited for Skye to come over to go on a garage sale adventure. The first one we stopped at we bought a little baby rocker seat for baby #2 when the time comes. Paid $10 for it. Not bad. Stopped by a park so bubba could get some energy out. He was tired of being in the car.

That afternoon we went to a birthday party for my sweet friends daughter's 13th birthday. Alicia. Sweetest most talented 13 year old I've met. Bubba was so curious in this new house. Going all the way to the front and then out the back door. I kid you not. At least 10 times. Whew momma was tired.

After hanging out with maw maw Saturday night we got up Sunday and (here's my favorite part) we went to the Liz Carpenter Fountain. It's no secret I love to run town lake and I can't believe after all these years and all the times I go with Hudson that I've never taken him here. I didn't even know it was there. He had a blast. It was sooooo much fun. Bubba grabbed mine and mawmaw's hand and wanted us to run with him. Then wanted us to show him the turtles. When he got tired I ran 4 miles as he took a nap in the stroller and then headed back to the fountain to play when he woke up. We ran up and down the hill. Watched the turtles. Hudson said the "turtles" went "home" when they would go back in the water. We walked to Sandy's and got an ice cream and fries. Played in the water more and after 5 hours of playing I decided we should probably go home. I could have stayed out there all day with bubba. If it weren't for potential sunburn and also not having a night outfit and milk I probably would have tried. I asked bubba if he was ready to go home and he tells me "no" and what sounded like "I don't want to".

My son. My best friend. My adventure partner for life or maybe until he's taken by another sweet lady :). This boy of mine is the world to me. How did I ever get this lucky? He wears me out. Keeps me on my toes and has me going to bed each night feeling like someone kicked my butt. But there's nothing in the world better than this. My whole heart is his forever.

19 Month Old Potty Boy

Ok so I totally lucked out this week. I know it's only the beginning of this long road of potty training but I was working on the couch on Tuesday. Typing like a mad woman I see Hudson out of the corner of my eye go to the bathroom. He can't get the door open so he walks over to me and says "mama potty". I got up and was thinking ok he wants to go play in the bathroom. We haven't really even touched potty training so I for sure thought he wanted to just play. He walks over to the toilet lifts up the lid and says "potty." So I say, "ok, you want to sit on it?" I take his diaper off and attempt to hold him. We sit there....nothing.  He's wobbling as I try to hold his tiny butt on the big seat. I take him off and run to get his baby potty we bought awhile back when he was pooping in the same place every time. We thought we would just make it available per my friend Natalie's idea. Ran and got the potty that until now has been used as a hat to get a laugh out of bubba. He sits on the potty and pees!!!! What?!? The past 5 days Hudson has gone potty twice and poo poo twice in his potty. I'm totally blown away. Our mimicer has somewhat learned how to use the potty and when to tell me he has to potty or poo poo. Seriously?!? This kid amazes me. Yes...that's a pic of his potty below. That is the only time I will ever post a pic of a potty.
My amazing 19 month old has me forever stunned. Bubba is learning new words all of the time and the best part is he tells me what he wants. We are breaking the barrier of me not knowing. This is huge for me. My biggest struggle with bubba, especially when he's upset, is not knowing what he wants and how I can make it better. When he's tired of being inside he wants to go "out." When he's hungry he goes to the fridge and tells me "milk" or "cheese" or "eat" or "more." In the morning we have "toast". When he's tired of wearing a poopie diaper that I can't smell he says "poo poo." With Hudson being my first baby I have no idea what a 19 month old is supposed to do but all I can tell you that he amazes me. To see hin learn things makes me so happy. And even stuns me. This is the best research project in the world.

A few other big things to share this month :). We got bubba a puddle jumper and just the other day he was pushing away from momma and pawpaw to swim on his own. So glad I finally got him his "turtle" puddle jumper. Not sure he would wear it if it wasn't for the turtle. Point momma. We've been spending a lot of evenings at the pool during this heat. Not sure why I didn't think of it sooner. Bubba has a blast.

This has been a month of teething. Whew boy. Poor bubba. He now has 15 teeth. 5 of those came in this month. 2 molars and 3 canines.

Good eater this month and good sleeper when he's not in pain from teething.

Last but not least dada has taught bubba how to booty dance. Our son. The booty shaker. The best thing ever.

Bubba happy 19 months. We are Forever lucky, momma and dada.

101+ degrees pool games

We've been taking our outdoor boy to the pool a lot during this heat. Hudson doesn't care that its 104 degrees on our temp gauge outside. Nothing can keep this boy from going out. He is soooooo my child.

He has me considering starting a clothing line made of moisture whicking material like exercise gear that looks "nice".

Anywho, because we've been taking him to the pool so much he is getting soooo brave. We still don't have a floatie yet that he will use but yesterday's episode has me on a mission to buy yet another floatie to try. Going to try the puddle jumper. Hopefully that works.

Since we've been going bubba dunks his head in with momma as we count to three. He also love to jump in and will sometimes try it with no one to catch him. SCARY! He's so brave. Sometimes a little too brave. Hence the new floatie mission. Yesterday he ran from one side of the pool to the other and decided he was going to jump in before momma or pops could get to him. Luckily our "NOs" stopped him as he decided to sit down on the side and wait. He almost fell in! For the first time I got super nervous. Wild boy is trying to give his mom a heart attack.

Fearless he is. He also likes to sit on the edge of the pool with his back facing the pool. When momma counts to three he falls backwards into the pool. I can't believe my almost 19 month old has that much trust in me. Not like I wouldn't catch him but that's pretty darn brave to me.

Not only does he want to jump in when you aren't there to help he wants to go under the water!!! And he doesn't want you to hold him. Now yes every parent does and should think their child is amazing but I seriously don't want to ignore all of this braveness. Maybe he will be the next Gold Medal Olympic swimmer. Or the next regal stuntman. Who knows but I'm completely amazed by the hour.

So. Think it's time to most definitely get a floatie that he will wear. Wish us luck.

Sharing the pain in a funny haha kind of way

Parenting..fun stuff. Not to be cliche but seriously the best job I've ever had. And the hardest. Love my sweet bubba so much. I'm so lucky to have him and there's not a day that goes by (no matter how exhausting) that I don't thank my lucky stars.

But...I saw this funny thing on Cartoon Network the other day...something about parenting can't remember exactly but it was this dude telling people without children how to be good friends to people with children. Very funny though. Like a joke show. Guys are sitting around poker table and he says the best way to have a conversation with a dad is to ask, "so...what's your take on daycare?" Or a friend and her mom friend are at a coffee shop and she says, "so tell me about your extremely sore nipples and unbrushed teeth." Super funny. So I wanted to share some funny stories that we could all relate to.

1. Raise your hand if you seriously have forgotten (or have not had time) to brush your teeth for a day or two? Gross? Of course but its one of those small things on the "list of things to do for yourself" that you somehow can't make time for. My hand is up. Sorry but true.

2. When the extent of "looking good" is braiding your hair when you are way past the adolescence age of French braids. Lol.

3. When planning a date night takes too much brain power and you are worried it's going throw off your whole world you've created aka routine. Still raising my hand.

4. When you've reached that point where you let your child tear up a restaurant by eating sugar packets and dumping it everywhere. And your new definition of "eating out" is chick fil a.

5.  When you take your kid to the pool at night to skip part of the bedtime routine of a bath. Don't laugh. You know you do it. Ok laugh. We have to release this insanity somehow.

6. When you take a trip to sonic or anywhere to gain sanity because "alone time" is the divider of your car seat. Lol.

I could go on. Now share some of your "funny haha" pain with me.

Life is so much more interesting this way and I wouldn't change a thing. A new prospective on life and what's important is what Hudson has taught me. He's also made me feel like my heart has grown to the size of a watermelon. I'm so lucky to have this speed boat. He.......is the most interesting man in the world.
